Pastors: Sadiel and Zady Fonseca

Pastor Sadiel and his wife Zady are well known in their neighborhood.  Whoever is hungry, needs clothing or water or transportation knows they can knock at their door for help.  If someone comes hungry, they will share their food; literally making three servings from two. They serve in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Sagua.

Here’s how the electric blackouts are effecting them and their ministry:

Here we have whole days without electricity.  This week we have had 19 hours during the daytime without electricity.

For elderly people like my dad and his wife it is even more difficult. They are not able to cook because it if difficult for them to find charcoal. Even if they did, they do not have a way to light charcoal. They come to our house to have breakfast with us because they live close by.  Sometimes we cook and take the food to them.

Using the solar fan to charge a lamp and also for charging phones

Right now everything is dark.  Today was a cloudy day so everything is dark.  I was not able to fully charge the solar fan today.  I have it there connected.  And I have not been able to charge the lamp, so we will not have good illumination tonight.

We just need to hurry up now.  The food is ready and we need to hurry to take a shower, eat, and go to sleep.  And wait, God willing, that electricity comes on at 1 am and have those 3 hours they give us from 1 am – 4 am and then back to the same situation from 4 am to 1 pm without electricity then back to having electricity until 3 or so. This is our daily challenge.”

Even with all the challenges, they were able to obtain fuel to use a generator to light up the church for a special service led by Jewish Evangelistic Missions (JEM)

A 3,000 watt solar energy system will provide sufficient electricity for them to continue their service to the community. Be a part of bringing energy for life.
